CASA helps protects welfare of area children

Tuesday, Dec 1, 2015

For several years CASA has chosen a family in need of help at Christmas. However, this year there are so many children in care and so many families that need help. This year we are asking for the community to help with gift cards so families can get food, necessities and a toy or two for their children. Any amount helps and we appreciate any donations.

CASA is serving close to 200 children in foster care and/or kinship care due to child abuse and neglect. This is the highest caseload of children CASA has seen in 17 years of advocating in Helena. The majority of our children are coming from drug addicted parents. Please know that if you donate a gift card for a family, the card will be given to the child’s appointed advocate to shop for or with the child in foster care.

We would like to thank the Helena community for participating in Empty Stockings in previous years. Your donations make it possible for families in need to celebrate during the holidays.

CASA provides trained advocates for abused and neglected children in Lewis & Clark and Broadwater counties subject to District Court jurisdiction. CASA provides any and all activities necessary to promote the health, safety and welfare of children in dependent neglect cases. Currently we are serving close to 200 children represented by 68 volunteers.
